Perfection Just Got an Upgrade - Introducing The STAX SR-L500MK2
STAX, renowned for pioneering electrostatic headphones, first introduced the SR-Lambda series over 36 years ago. The SR-L500MK2 builds on this legacy with an upgraded enclosure and modern refinements. It combines advanced engineering with STAX’s signature sound, offering a perfect balance of delicate treble, smooth mids, and deep, controlled bass. Designed for precision, the SR-L500MK2 delivers a listening experience that feels both natural and highly detailed.
Engineered With Stainless Fixed Electrodes & Precision Thin-Film Diaphragm
STAX SR-L500MK2 features tough, stainless steel fixed electrodes that enhance structural integrity while minimising unwanted resonance. Paired with a hand-selected ultra-thin film diaphragm, this design offers lightning-fast response, superb accuracy, and outstanding transient performance. This combination is critical for achieving the signature STAX sound — fast, detailed, and impeccably clear across the frequency range.
Designed for Long Listening Sessions
STAX SR-L500MK2 is built for comfort during extended listening. Its headband features a 10-click height-adjustable slider that locks firmly in place, eliminating the need for frequent adjustments. The soft, hand-crafted earpads are made from high-grade synthetic leather, which not only enhances comfort but also contributes to superior sound isolation and clarity.
Cables Designed for Lossless Signal Transmission
The detachable cable uses HiFC™ (High-Performance Pure Copper) wires developed by Hitachi, offering exceptional signal purity. These cables deliver the same sound quality characteristics found in STAX’s flagship models, including the SR-009. The wide, flat cable layout reduces capacitance and enhances driving efficiency, ensuring low-loss signal transmission for a cleaner, more accurate sound.

What do 'Impedance' and 'Ohms' mean?
Impedance is the so-called alternating-current resistance that headphones have under specific standard conditions. On devices with low output impedance, headphones are the louder, the lower their impedance is. In principle, we recommend that you choose headphones with low impedance for use on devices that are operated by battery/rechargeable battery (i.e. most portable devices such as smartphones, tablet computers but also notebooks). You can distinguish between high and low impedance. Usually, the gradations 18 Ω, 32 Ω, and 80 Ω are used in the low range. In the high range, 250 Ω are common. If you want to get the most out of your system (and it has the power to do so), choose a model with 600 Ω.
